Portland Cement Concrete Pavements (PCCP) provide the most durable pavement alternative available with the lowest life-cycle cost. They have been in use for over 100 years in the United States and new technological advances such as rapid strength concrete, innovative concrete pavement rehabilitation techniques, and ultra-thin whitetopping (to see video click here) make high performance ready-mixed concrete the best choice for our country's infrastructure whether in the form of highways, streets, intersections (see 72 hour intersection reconstruction case study video by clicking here {note: 30mb file}), airports or ports. In fact, with more extensive use of PCCP in the nation's transportation infrastructure, the outcome will protect the environment, move the United States away from foreign oil, aid public safety on roadways, enhance fuel efficiency, lessen the heat island effect in communities and give taxpayers and workers the long-life quality pavement that they deserve.
The American Concrete Pavement Association - Southwest Chapter (ACPA-SW) is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date and relevant educational materials for Public Agencies and Private Industry alike. The focus of the ACPA-SW includes the following areas:

Airports
ACPA-SW provides technical expertise and conducts workshops for members on the requirements for concrete pavement in California and Nevada airports. Visit the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) website. The ACPA-SW also works with the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Ports
The country’s largest ports are within the region covered by the ACPA-SW. The association helps members learn about the special requirements for concrete pavement at ports and harbors. We also work the California Association of Port Authorities and the Harbor Association of Industries and Commerce.
