Concrete Streets and Roads
Transportation of goods and people depends on safe, durable roads, streets and highways. Concrete pavements consistently achieve a high level of performance and most often have the lowest total ownership costs because they require less maintenance. Concrete streets and roads have a long history of exceptional environmental performance. Vehicles traveling on concrete streets use less fuel because the rolling resistance is much lower than on other paving materials. We need a way to make our tax dollars go further. Agencies that rely on concrete pavements can save money, provide safer streets , reduce energy consumption for lighting, increase fuel efficiency for trucks and cars and dramatically reduce their maintenance budgets. Concrete streets and roads are less sensitive to the volatility of oil prices and last more than twice as long as asphalt pavements.
